| Examples of More Major Problems With Our Home |
Our home is severely under powered. A load calculator shows that this house should have at least 400 amps - not the 200 amps that it does have. We try to use as little electric as possible or lights flicker. Please view our video. Living in this Celebrity Home is truly a nightmare. A very, very expensive nightmare!
We have not had properly working hot water in the master bathroom the entire time that we have lived here. We have to run the water for a very long time in order for it to get hot. Once it is hot it does not last long enough for me to finish a shower. The hot water circulating pump has been changed 5 times (with used pumps). Robert Ryan said that if we wanted it worked on again we would have to pay for it.
Our central vacuum system did not work for the first 11 months that we lived in our nightmare home. Again, our contact person, Colleen Marotta of DPR Realty (Robert Ryan's daughter) would argue with me that it is working each time that I would email her to say that it didn't work. Finally, Celebrity Homes LLC hired a different company to come and look at the system during the 11th month that we had been living in the house. The new repairman found that while it APPEARED that the unit had suction upon closer inspection it in fact did not. The vacuum needed a new motor. He removed the bag from the unit and it did not contain one piece of dirt. He replaced the motor. I then attempted to use the vacuum and found that it still did not work at the entire back of the house. I emailed my contact person, Colleen Marotta of DPR Realty, yet again to tell her that it still did not work. I got back a nasty email from Colleen Marotta saying the vacuum did work. I LOVED how Ms. Marotta could send back such emails while she has no way of knowing whether the unit worked since she personally HAS NOT inspected it and I am the one trying to use it. After Colleen Marotta And I exchanged several emails I did succeed in getting Celebrity Homes Scottsdale, to send the repairman back out who found that there was NO ELECTRIC to the back outlet of the house that supplies electric to the unit. Finally at almost the 1 year mark of living in this house I have a working vacuum system.
The SUB-ZERO is no longer keeping food frozen. The repairman came out and told me that it was not installed correctly. That the freezer is going to continue to fail until it no longer works. I emailed Robert Ryan and Colleen Marotta of DPR Realty to advise them of this. I was told by a return email that this is not their problem. They went on to say that they did not install the appliance. The repairman that came out for the initial call came to my home again and said that IT IS their problem because they purposely had it improperly installed (they changed the factory door on it). I advised Celebrity Homes LLC of this information and told them that this appliance needs their immediate attention. To date they have not answered me.
The house has a heating cooling system that does not work appropriately. It is hot in some areas and cold in others in spite of having three units. This system broke down three times during the first few months that we lived in this house. These breakdowns occurred during the hottest time of the year here, summer. Celebrity Homes LLC took their time in getting the system repaired. We were told that not all three units were down so this was not considered an emergency repair. It was up to 120 degrees each day that we were without air, to me that is an emergency. Over half of our home was without air conditioning. It was several days before their cooling/heating vendor got around to fixing the air conditioning. We were unable to stay in our home it was so hot.
The builder Robert Ryan of Celebrity homes, Scottsdale, Arizona, was stealing water from us for the first four months that we had been living in our house. Mr. Ryan had been stealing water from us with a black house that he had connected on our property going to the house next door which he had under construction. When we found out about this ongoing theft Mr. Ryan's daughter and real estate agent Colleen Marotta of DPR Realty emailed me saying that they would pay us for one fourth of the water bill for one month. To date we have not even received that.
Our ceiling fan in the great room has not worked the entire time that we have lived here. It is a room with a very tall ceiling and the fan is very much needed to help control the uneven cooling and heating in this house. I have been phoning the company that these fans were purchased and installed from since October of 2007 without getting a return call. I was just able to speak to the gentleman from the fan company in early May and was advised that Celebrity Homes told him not to return my calls or work on the fan as "we are in the middle of a dispute."
Besides the major repairs that this house has needed we have experienced towel racks and toilet paper holders falling out of the wall. While this is small in comparison to the laundry list of problems we have had with this house it says a lot about the quality of the build-out.
Since the purchase of this house I have spent dozens of days sitting in our house waiting for a repair person. This is a brand new house and should not be in need of the endless repairs that it has needed. This is very costly to the homeowner as it takes you away from your work. The same repairs need to be done over and over - they are never done correctly the first time.
I have owned many homes during my life time - I have never had such a horrible experience as in owning a Celebrity Home!
